Free Senior Accountant

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of general and advanced accounting functions including overall responsibility for general ledger account analysis, fixed asset management, journal entry processing, and bank reconciliations.
Essential Functions:
Prepares monthly bank reconciliations/cash account reconciliations; prepares journal entries as needed; follows up on any unusual items.
Maintains fixed asset records, prepare monthly depreciation schedules, and oversees annual physical inventory.
Assists with month-end close by analyzing variances and creating month-end journal entries as needed.
Assists with analysis, reconciling and adjustment of accounts as part of the year-end close and audit process.
Assists with preparation for the annual audit and Form 990.
Creates and provides timely data and data analysis to senior level management staff as needed.
Administers corporate credit cards, which includes ensuring correct coding of expenses, collecting receipts, and adding/deleting/modifying users.
Collaborates with departments on financial reporting and grant tracking.
Reviews Accounts Payable invoices for proper authorization.
Is committed to the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukees Child Abuse/Neglect Prevention efforts as a mandatory reporter.
Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
A Bachelors degree in Accounting or in Business with an emphasis in Accounting is preferred.
A minimum of five years accounting experience that includes working with journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience with managing fixed asset records is preferred.
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Demonstrated success in providing pro-active customer (member) service along with the ability to communicate with all stakeholders (members, program participants, staff, and volunteers).
Must be able to tactfully deal with conflict and confidential information.
Advanced understanding of accounting.
Excellent and highly effective communication skills; oral and written.
Organizational skills with an exceptional eye for detail.
Analytical ability and good judgment are essential.
