Free Electrical Engineering Technician - 2448

GVI, Inc., a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Technician to support the Sensors and Arrays Division at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) effectively and efficiently in Newport, RI.
Qualified candidate will be expected to:
Fabrication of towed array components, array structure components, electro-optical devices, test devices, cable testers, special prototypes and test hardware that includes soldering, electronics potting services, wire and fiber termination, module dressing and module booting.
Read and interpret drawings, primarily wiring diagrams.
Assist Engineers with First Article (FA) test execution.
To perform these duties, the ideal candidate should possess the following skill sets:
Be energetic, have a good attitude and work well with a team.
Be trained and/or experienced with soldering of wires and board level components at the J-Standard level.
Knowledge of Electrical/Electronic principles.
Position Requirements:
US Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance; Candidates currently possessing an Active Secret Clearance (or higher) are preferred.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Minimum three (3) to seven (7) years’ experience on electrical and mechanical components.
Must have a valid United States Driver’s License.
Proficient with MS Office Suite programs.
Ability to frequently lift & carry up to 50 lbs.
Preferences:
Prior experience with Navy systems desired but not required.
Prior experience with test equipment, including multi-meters, signal analyzers and oscilloscopes and the ability to compare data and signals, preferred.
J-STD-001 Certified.
Position is located Newport, RI.
